Today I almost lost my Dad He was eating his lunch And an onion went down his throat In a most horrible way It got stuck sideways He could not get it out After trying his darnedest To clear his throat I heard the awful noise Of him trying to do this I had to scream at my mom "Don't talk! I am trying to hear." My first instinct Was to head to where my Dad was Finally mom heard The horrible noise I did and followed We got to the computer room And my Dad was turning beet red Trying to free The onion stuck sideways from his throat We could not give him the himlick Due to the fact he is 430 lbs. So my mom did the next best thing And started slapping him on the back While my mom did this I grabbed a garbage can For whatever may come out With the pesky onion Finally the onion came free And we did not have to call 911 My Dad is still with us I was so scared I was gonna lose him Poetry is beauty in words. |

I am very glad you were able to save your father's life... Your poem has a very familiar sound to me... as if I know you. Thank you for sharing this with us... we all need to keep our wits about us when someone we love is in danger. |
