Where Has My Memory Gone By Paul Wilson I must have written that poem long ago Words given birth within my mind escape me I have no recollection of doing so As yesterday’s dream becomes today’s lost memory There was a time not long ago memories were here to stay Like hands of the clock never missing a beat I’d be okay if I could remember what I wanted to say And what shoes goes on which feet More and more each day I find little things slipping away Where did I put my car keys or reading glasses Did I pay the credit card bill today? Found my glasses in the cabinet with the molasses Went to the corner store for a few things Did my shopping couldn’t find the car Bought milk, bread, butter and chicken wings Ended up buying fifty bucks worth of caviar Tried to return the fish eggs, but they wouldn’t let me I swear I’m losing my mind it seems Oh what the hell, maybe I’ll tell my wife it was free At least it’s better than sardines Dropped the kids off at school Took the dog to the vet Went to pick up the kids, found out they were at the swimming pool How in the hell could I forget I swear I’ve lost my mind I’ve looked everywhere Next I guess I’ll go blind Sitting in my rocking chair If I could find it Copy Righted 5/9/2020 Paul Wilson ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

You nailed it, my friend, and, if I could find my 'rocking chair' I'd be right beside you. Go Paul! j. |

Paul, It is a curse, I tell you. Most often it is "where the hell?" This was so right on it almost wasn't funny. ~L |

Well, enjoy the caviar. My memory wasn't great before I got this age. I've searched for glasses that were on my face and lots of other things. This is funny although I'm not sure you meant it to be.

I'm not ready for that rocking chair yet. And, I don't think you are either. . . Excellent work here. . . -- That which gives light must endure burning. |

Paul, this is something I suffer from too. I forget not only little things, but big memories that really matter. Originally, it was like my brain crashed during a defrag and I lost about 50% of stored data. Anything learned today I most likely will not remember tomorrow. I've resorted to carrying a notepad with me most the time and write everything down...and I mean everything. This is one area where I think faith in God is really necessary. Don't let it get you down, my friend. |

To All...This started out as a serious poem, then I got a little crazy so thought I'd have a little fun. What the hell it might be my last happy memory, if I don't forget to smile. Thanks all for indulging me and for allowing me to bring a smile to your face as Red Skelton use to say. Seriously I do forget Sh** all the time...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |
