If it should be that I grow weak And pain should stop me from my sleep Then you must do what must be done For this last battle can't be won. You will be sad, I understand Don't let your grief then stay your hand For this day more than all the rest Your love for me must stand the test. We've had so many happy years What is to come can hold no fears You'd not want me to suffer so The time has come, please let me go. Take me where my needs they'll tend And please stay with me until the end Hold me close and speak to me Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time that you will see The kindness that you do for me Although my mind has had it's last thought From pain and suffering I've now been brought. Please do not grieve it must be you Who has this painful thing to do We've been so close we two these years Don't let your heart hold back the tears.. ok that's it Brad...ambulance is still on standby.. I have already commented the meaning of that poem and you know how it makes me feel when I read it ... ... so I'll focus on the form IMHO (learnt that expression here) the line before the last is not flowing as nicely as the rest ... I stumble on "we too" ... and it's maybe my funny accent but I find that tears/years doesn't rhyme that well. and don't ask me whether it's anapestic, antiseptic, iambic, diuretic, isometric or octosyllabic [This message has been edited by JTF (edited 09-30-1999).] |

JTF: That's your lousy English..*g* Tears and Years is perfect rhyme but I'll think on the rest... HUGS ------------------ You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. |
