He always greets with an all consuming smile. So pure, full of truth. Sometimes I don’t smile back. Feeling immediate regret, for seemingly taking out on him what he doesn’t carry. Other times I welcome the warmth. Feeling selfish as it may be an elusive find on that particular day. I don’t know his name. I have never taken the time to read his name tag, afraid.. He may think I stare at the uselessness of his legs. Forgetting the smile, the honest smile of whole. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

Aw Susan, this is lovely. Those of us who recognize our own inadequacies are often the same ones that are hardest on ourselves. Hugs hon, well done. It's better than I could have planned.. |

Acceptance of another's "disabilities" is sometimes hard for us who are "whole"...but when we can? Wonderful relationships are born... |

Thank you all. I saw him today and he made me smile. Since I moved, I won't be seeing that Walmart greeter anymore...my loss. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

He sees not the inadequacies of others ~ nor should we... A simple and honest write which really hits its mark. Susan, what you truly lack is "inadequacies"! You have a heart of gold and look deeper that you give yourself credit for! Linda |
