Where have all the flowers gone? Hiding their faces for another winter, Either to roots or seeds is done, Waiting for the springtime to reenter. I light candles of fragrance For the musky and deep shadows they tame, And then light more of the same To aid myself in my remembrance When we did the very same, Setting them all about on shelves and chairs Till the bed was ringed in light. Too much drink took away our cares As we talked deep into the night. But that was back in early spring And we were new to loving’s touch And the happiness it would bring, I miss those days so very much As I light a fragrant candles tonight. I’m the only one enjoying the scent And watching the flickering light As I now wonder where you and time went. |

Thanks Artic Wind and Marge, this is a new poem about old feelings. Sometimes it’s strange how the simple actions bring them flooding back. |
