Rain Dance Rain is streaking the window beside me I like the finger wet streaks But it is cold on my bones For a woman who loves cold I don't like rain-cold That deep cold gnawing That all-consuming cold I like rain-warm Touch teasing on bared skin While we dance in puddles Splashing laughter weaving As faded jeans become soaked And T-shirts plaster To needing bodies Rain is streaking the window beside me Dancing with the wind Racing to the gutters Damp air settling under down quilts Waiting in silence For a woman like me Alison |
