The incense smoke drifts
A dream upon sand pebbles---
Hand on a doorknob.

I agree with Margherita..a new beginining..
What I see is incense rising, to purify the air, to clear it of bad thoughts of the situation.
The affair was never built on a good foundation-
but built on shifting "sand pebbles".
"Hand on a doorknob"= leaving.
Thats my take on it.:-)
