It`s not the usual spaces though they are none the less for it; but those delightful unselfconcious corners, where the corded muscle of a shoulder meets and rises to the pulsing throat, or the squarish span of a capable hand, more masculine in its scarred splendor than any rising bicep. Locations like these. Especially the landscape of his negative relief: rough where I am smooth, hard where I yield, out where I am in, strength where I`m weak- and the yards of warm and waiting patience: his chest, which holds my head, soothes me like an infant around the deep and steady beat; the rumble of his voice, the latent heat. |
