A Full Measure of Pain

If I were to
lose you
it wouldn't be
the same as
any other loss,
for I have lost
someone before,
and with that loss
I realized the
extent of my feelings
and I could see that
my love was shallow,
never reaching the depth
or the richness
of the love
I have for you.
So if I were to
lose you, I would know
the full measure of pain,
and the emptiness that comes
to those that lose
someone they truly
care for.
