She was Samantha Before the sunrise And after the apologies Like a badge of holy water Sipping around and beyond her thin lips, She was Samantha And with her glasses, With her black denim jeans, Her lipstick, velvet surreal Like a fall of a hopeless heart The fall of a hopeless man She sat and watched Beside the ocean glass of Truths and lies And waited for a man To please her heart Without the mirror of his eyes So she could see a center Of clarity, a center of pain Not guarded, not sold in the sand of soiled black, She could see someone with a skin so bare His body could wrap around the island Like the pigeons of the air She wandered so long, wandered no more, A long street that she wished would be called her own Like the sad ending to a night of a peasants long yawn, Samantha kept searching, on a train to another city she could call her own. |

Enigmatic, ethereal, unique and very, very beautiful. This is the first of your poems I have read, but most certainly not the last. Owl |
