If Those Years Could Only See Us Now

Oh, if only those years could see us now
Snapping twigs in spring woods of commitment
Where carefree footsteps of renascence, sound
The courageous crack of fresh beginnings
New dreams for old, no genie required
Home at last, where crumbling wishing wells stand
Tired monuments to past, forgotten needs

Here, unshackled, on tomorrow's threshold
Brash and fearless as the honey badger
Undaunted by vile gossip's swarming bees
Swords and shields of futile contradiction
Heaped in ceremonial surrender
Sealed in the residue of waxwork fools
Too stubborn to grasp such godly treasure

The future shall know us, in our contempt
For the weakness of our hypocrisy
And those wasted years shall sure'deliver
A unity and love, too long denied

WoW! You had me coming and going and going and . . . But I must agree with your concept of "If Those Years Could Only See Us Now." In my case I have a feeling they would say, See! We told you so!
