       Wake of the Storm

Here, in this magic nether land
where deep Winter has laid
a soft-crystal veil in pristine
banks of downy snow now
tipped in silver moonlight,
and smoothed all of Gaia’s
wrinkles left by the callous
   hands of men,
there is only a serene silence
and joyously peaceful respite
from all the tumultuous,  
grasping schemes and cares
   of the day.
