Funny how it seems that when my world is unfettered by drama and my horizons aren’t covered by clouds, when everything seems well in hand, issues dormant in my head look out and say- It’s safe to come out now. Unresolved traumas feel secure enough to have their say. I thought that I would be at the bottom of the baggage by now, but no. Like a little squirrel stuffing away nuts for winter, I crammed away emotions. So here I am, forty years later feeling fears of eighteen. Better late than never, they say. And it is true. I feel myself heal, becoming closer to the whole. Call me a late bloomer or whatever you will. I’m just glad I’m still growing and that some day when I’m old and gray I’ll finally be able to say, I’m all grown up inside with my inner child intact. LGR©1/10/16 |

A perfect poetic philosophical essay, dear Lori. We never stop to learn and to grow and if we are able to maintain intact the inner child, then we can call ourselves truly successful! Excellent. Love, Margherita ![]() |

This is beautiful, Lori. I was smiling as I read it. Good for you. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Super wonderful poem lori! It was just a thought which made them run. It was just an act that killed them. |

"I’m all grown up inside with my inner child intact". This may appear simple, but as I read it over, it becomes quite the profound statement. As the scythe-bearer draws nearer, he will take myself and the child within with his pleasure. Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me! |

Yes, I must admit the old and gray part of my poem was a bit of an assumption on my part. I'm pretty sure there is a bus out there with my name on it and a bolt of lightning or two. ~L |
