Personally, I’ve never had a baby. My wife has, my daughter has, lots of people I know have, but not me. And although I’ve tried to associate various kinds of pain, some serious indeed, to the process of giving birth, somehow, I know, I’ve probably failed. The failure, I believe, isn’t so much in the quantifiable depth of the pain, but in its satisfaction. I mean, I’ve never had pain I’ve, in any way, been satisfied with, or happy to have had, but in watching my wife give birth, and my daughter, each a couple of times, there was a glow in their eyes, a sparkle in their tears, and a tone to their cries, that was so different to the cussing and grunting, and God-blessing sounds that I make, when seriously hurting. Yeah . . . I’ve never given birth, but if I have to be in pain,then, God help me to feel it the way women in labor seem to do. ©wesley james beard, jr. |

I believe giving birth and loving that much was the most beautiful experience in my entire life.... thank you for remembering.... |
