Some say that affection- Is not my cup of tea. If you’re seeking tenderness- To stay away from me. They only see the cover- The pages are inside. Within me is a tenderness- I’ve always tried to hide. I do have strong emotions- Behind a stern façade- The only One who knows me I guess would be my God. He made me, and preserves me Though I’ve pushed the envelope He’s kept me through the hard times- And still He gives me hope. And so, I live while passing through This world of woe and toil Expecting when I rise each day- To leave this mortal coil. But death is not foreboding- To depart this world of strife Is merely stepping through the door To a far better life. |
