I wonder why? When I was young- I only thought of “now”? And found my pleasure in the things The law would not allow. I wonder why as time rolled on- My mindset stayed the same? For every single issue- I found someone else to blame. I wonder why, now that I’m old, My dreams are unfulfilled. Or if when I’m no longer here- And my old heart is stilled- Will someone ponder lines I wrote Perhaps some lesson learns- It’s why I’ll write with some vague hope- Long as life’s candle burns. |

I think life's candle is hope. To hold life without hope is much darker than the "merely existing" it implies. Indeed, in that state, you are walking dead. Michael |
