I could hate you for all the things
that I will never be
The love, the honor, the strength,
and the undying loyalty

All the evil you possess
is a detriment to my existence,
a black hole in my soul
that controls my inner spirit

I could hate you for everything
that you never allowed me to see
All the moments you took away...
the man you never wanted me to be

All the mistakes I have made
are all because of you
due to your selfishness and bitterness
that you were too stubborn to get through

I could hate you forever,
yet forever isn’t long enough...
not nearly long enough for you to feel me...
not nearly long enough to see what you screwed up

Now, you hide behind a persona
that justifies what you are,
but I see through all your lies
and what it is that sets us both apart

But hating you will get me nowhere,
for hating you, is hating me
You are I and I am you
and that happenstance
is the irony that keeps me from saying...
I hate you

The words to this poem, Bluesy, could be attributed to many, and the ending is absolutely perfect. I am this poem, as are so very many of us. THIS is a damn good one.

Many thanks to you JerryPat! Sometimes, under a wide variety of influences, one might look a little too deeply in a mirror and get lost trying to figure out which, and what is real.

Time then, to break out the styptic pencil or just grow an unkempt beard.
