I've tried to find the answer....no luck. I'm new to this and was wondering what the animated folders on some of the posts indicate.

A red folder generally means a new post, or new replies to a post since you last visited; a flapping folder means you are NEW...and it is a signal to all to come welcome the new poet on the block...a blue/gray folder means that the poet has responded to comments; and a yellow folder means no new activity since you last checked in.
