rich-pa: *hehe* been reading t.s. eliot my friend?  this reminds me of the "song" in The Hollow Men... pray tell though, what do the spanish lines translate as?... all i remember from my classes is "tengo un hache en mi cabeza" and "el smurfo" ("there is an axe in my head" and "the smurf")... usually i dont dig repetition but i think it works really well here (again, because of the connection i make with eliot)... i can't pick a favorite stanza or line because i think they all stand alone (and together) as very profound works... keep up the awesome work boy-o...sincerely, your bud: jerome the mysterious priest A savage place! as holy and enchanted As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted By woman wailing for her demon-lover! ~Coleridge |

you are very perceptive jerome, i was reading a little eliot at the time of the compostion of this poem, which was a few months ago. i'm glad you liked the repetition in this instance. here's the translations: -el mundo es un chisto(the world is a joke) -beba y baile (drink and dance) -!beba mas! (drink more) -chinga el mundo y todos los gentes {this is a part that is probably a bit unnapropriate, it means, roughly}: (screw the world and everyone in it) -!no sentimos! (we don't care) it portrays two very contrasting voices, rich-pa |
