that is what I am
moon-drunk
on Dionysus
heady brew
flowing through my veins
pounding my heart
with unknown vigor
that feeds
sweet Aphrodite's
gracious gift:
true love

My Lady is beyond compare
for comparison
would be unjust
as it would serve
but to show
as glaring flaws
the imperfection
in those at her side
for to mine own eye
her beauty far outshines
any rival sun
for she is the brightest of stars
in my night

To think her eyes
those twins suns
blazing with vital life
might dim with pain
is more than my hold
upon control to bear
for Honor,
Duty,
Chivalry
all demand from me
obeisance
but to mine own heart
will I be true
and thus do I choose
the comfort
of my Lady
over mine own
tarnished nature

Words I say
are insufficient
to the task
lack they
the depth of feeling
and resolve
the voice conveys,
oh the symphonies that play
upon her golden tongue
reach mine ears
and fair swoon me
with tantalizing images
of her by firelight
as our lips
touch in a kiss
