I look around me at the land of my ancestors A land blessed by the creator with beauty and resources beyond compare The earth was respected and cherished Now it is raped and abused by the uncaring My people lived in harmony with nature and Mother Earth till the selfish man came and wanted to possess what he could not -our earth, our land, our soul Although we are but a few today, he has not truly won For my ancestors vanquished by greed, live within me today Their blood runs through my veins Their presence is in my memory And their souls are on the wind < !signature--> Love one another-let God do the worrying, Rodney [This message has been edited by Rodney Belcher (edited 06-09-2000).] |

You will become a very well-known person here, especially if you team up with Marge! She is one who will very much appreciate your thoughts and process of them into poetic form. Please look for her in Open Forum 7, she is there daily. Your piece here is quite well done...simple, eloquent and spiritual. Thank you. Rodney; Beautiful! I love the way you honor your people in this poetic way, so they should have always been honored, for they were in tune with the earth and would have honored and preserved it better than it has been. Thank you, Ellie 02 |

Rodney, I really enjoyed this poem. A lovely reminder to cherish and remain true to the beauty around us, created by God. Thank you. |

The first person this brought to mind is Marge. She's dedicated a site to just this. It is sad how it's become abused by the selfishness of people. I don't want to go on a rant here so I won't. I loved your poem! And I always admired learning about how others lived with the earth and such. Took care of it, and respected it. Wonderful tribute! |
