Where is God When We Need Him? God wields a powerful sword in our lives There’s purpose and reason in all he contrives And the strength of his presence brings questions to bear In the hour of sorrow he seems unaware Where does God dwell when our need is most dire? Our prayers seem wrapped up in a shrouded attire Unseen and unheard as we plod through the day Without God beside us, we make our own way Through sorrow and heartache we drearily plod Unanswered our prayers, and forsaken by God But one day in the future the truth will be shown That we could not have weathered the storm all alone And then looking back at the victories we’d won And how we accomplished all we had done The strength of our spirit brings questions to bear He had always been with us, we were just unaware He is with us in sorrow, in beauty, in love He dwells in our hearts and in heaven above He lives in the fields where the whippoorwill sings He’s heard in the swishing of cardinal wings He’s obviously there in the oceans great roar And in every splendor we’ve witnessed before We see Him in a rosebud with droplets of rain But we don’t recognize Him when we are in pain Elizabeth Santos |

Liz; This is a beautiful poem. I think that when we are in our deepest pain and sorrow, that is when He is so close and weeping with us and feeling our pain, that we can't feel His presence. Love, Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. ellie LeJeune |

Ah Elizabeth, when the pain is that intense, he is there, holding us, keeping us from breaking...and his robe dries our tears... Sunny ~~~Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller ~~~ When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |

Oh Liz, this is so beautiful. With this lovely poem you have run the full course, from questioning, in times of sorrow, to a realization that He is always, always with us. I love this! Marcy |

Oh Liz, How beautifully you have asked and answered the questions. A truly lovely way to remind us that we need only remember that He is always there. Bonnie |
