Perspectively How small those sinful pleasures are which feign to swell their worth as dust seems ever larger unto pupils near the earth. But irises poised heavenward may see things as they are. For sand is little noticed when you’re peering at a star. SDJ 9/2000 [This message has been edited by Stephanos (edited 10-05-2000).] |

Dear Stephanos, The is a wonderful poem of perspective. I like how you put it together-and an important truth is involved here too. Like in Col.3:1--If then ye be risen with Christ, seek those things above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God and not on the earth. Or Psalm 121:1-2 Thanks for this wonderful poem, David< !signature--> WOW- another day of life-and here among friends! Ain't God Grand! A delightful poem. An ever important thought. It reminds me of the promise in James 4:7-8: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." Temptation seems so overwhelming until you get this heavenly perspective. The second line of the poem would sound better to me if you changed the "and" to a "to": "which feign to swell their worth." But it's wonderful as it sits. |

deleeme, Thanks for your reply. The scripture I was reminded of when writing this poem was Hebrews chapter 12 which says "Let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us . . .looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross..." Only by looking unto him will we be able to lay aside these temptations which seem so impressive and threatening. I also felt the aspect of joy was important. The scriptures say that "The joy of the LORD is our strength." The joy of the kingdom of God when held in view makes all other joyless pleasures fade away into insignificance... like sand of the earth. We won't desire them as before. Winnifer Fayre, Thanks for your suggestion. I considered it and agreed with you totally, I have edited the poem and put "to" in that line in place of "and". Thanks for the tweak! God bless you all, Stephen. |

Dear Stephanos; Glorious poem stating clearly God's gift of spititual sight given in Grace and Love. Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |
