Arise on wings of darkness,
chasing phantoms on the wind,
I am placated by the starkness;
let my gambol never end!

Dipping in and out of shadows,
ever rushing from the light,
I just barely flee the gallows
in time to savor most the night.

Death stalking me at each turn,
I laugh and taunt it still.
It whispers that one day I’ll burn,
but I don’t believe I will.

This dragon soul within me cries
asking me set it free.
But I know when this body dies
it won’t belong to me.

Arise on wings of darkness,
chasing phantoms in the wind,
I again embrace the starkness
Of a soul that’s lost in sin...

You have demonstrated a very wide range of vocabulary and thought. Your mood is playful and daunting regarding death and darkness and yet these are the terms that are most emphasized..... I love your imagery of death. Death is exactly as you have explained it. Just a few steps away as we hide in and out of the shadows... Reminds me so much of the immortality of youth. Just let me encourage you to allow that "dragon" fire burn hot within you to be a catalyst for the Lord.

Welcome! I agree with Bob here. Imagery is wonderful, but I hope it channeled for the Lord.

There is a ying and yang feel about this piece, almost as if one were standing on an edge, contemplating which way to fall....
