At the River Virginia Salter when we gather at the River do we reach into it to drink is the water that’s flowing sweet or does it stink what has joined the ripples riding ‘round and over rocks how fast is the running is it threatening the docks when its flow is serene are we placid, too, in kind do we lift our feet to ottomans rest on figments in our mind when it roils and subdues us do we clamor for a seat devoutly shouting our allegiance to the God we choose to meet is that when we listen is it easy then to hear do we seek beyond the eddies only when we’re filled with fear © August 27. 2000 |

Very good food for thought. Very good analogies in this poem. Thanks for sharing. |

Wonderful wisdom...I have come to know that I need Him in times of trouble and in times of Joy and in between as well! A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Beautifully expressed! A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes. |

VAS A very good analogy of the influence of what I interpret to be the Spirit of God upon our lives... to me a river is much like the wind in character. Flash floods and tornados are both unpredictable in nature as God's Spirit is to our souls. I enyoyed reading your poetry as always. Bob <>< |
