wait by the gates of heaven.
For I am not scheduled to die
until a quarter past eleven.

St Peter, St Peter may I
open the gates of heaven.
To let others pass by
as it is only ten to seven.

lock the gates of heaven.
As my family they will cry
at my untimely leaving.

St Peter, St Peter may I
freeze the gates of heaven.
As I am wondering why
He wants me when my life is uneven.

St Peter, St Peter may I
not enter the gates of heaven.
Until all the stars in the sky
have vanished forever.

St Peter, St Peter may I
be forgiven.
For I am not yet ready to fly
to the gates of heaven.
