When Jesus was here on earth, so long ago, He had some very dear and loving friends. Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from dead, And two sisters who could not comprehend Jesus would soon be taken from them. This pleasant way of life was near the end. Lazarus often played host to Jesus, And sister Martha gave Him bread and meat. Mary removed the pins from her long tresses And used her hair to bathe His weary feet. All three were horrified and shaken, When they heard about the fate he had to meet. Lazarus stayed near Him through the darkness. Martha proffered drink and bite to eat. Roman soldiers laughed and jeered at Mary, For her weeping as hot tears fell on his feet. Lazarus is with Him now in Heaven, And Martha serves her Lord a special treat. There is a place that's always kept for Mary, Where she sits and worships at her Master's feet. By Joyce 4/5/2001 |

Very good Joyce. Makes me think about what Jesus friends meant to him, beyond their being his followers. Betty Lou Hebert |

This story was the subject of our pastor's sermon, last Sunday. I thought it should be in poetry form, to show Jesus had a human side. Thanks for commenting. Joyce [This message has been edited by Joyce Johnson (edited 04-06-2001).] |

Joyce, this is wonderful! It took years of prayer for Jesus to heal me from a Martha to a Mary! Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Joyce- Let me say that this is very good... quite outstanding, to be honest. Your scheme of rhyme and overall format in this piece are truly brilliant, it does wonders for the flow. ![]() ~Allan The sun was born, so it shall die. ~VNV Nation, "Further" |

It's a beautiful writing not only in rhythm and rhyme, but the biblical friends of Jesus and how you picture them with Him now. Thank you for sharing this. Rae |
