Though fame may come
And riches round me pour,
And honored men
Make pathways to my door.

I count it less,
Than one sweet glimpse of him;
Whose light is out,
And now all earth is dim.

This gentle one
Who loved his fellow man.
With strength and open hands,
He lived as few men can.

He loved this world
And all that dwelt therein.
He shared of all he had;
His feelings genuine.

When such a light goes out,
What comes to fill the space?
A vacuum none can fill,
A longing for his face.

He lived each day as though
He had not long to live.
He needed many more,
With all he had to give.

Dear God in Heaven above,
You know his need to share.
He'll need someone to help,
A soul who needs his care.

If Heaven's a perfect place,
What's left for him to do?
Please give him one to love,
Who needs some tending, too.

JOyce

Dear Joyce:  I'm sure God will grant this prayer! Even perfection must be tended to.

Warms the heart and soul! Some touching poetry you've written here.

His is a hard act to follow.

How blessed you are to have loved such a one and been loved in return..a glorious trubute.

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

I wandered in here at this late/early hour and stopped to read a few poems.  You speak of a love that I personally recognize as what I believed love would be when I was 15.  It is good to know that it does happen.  And you have written it beautifully.
