I have lived my life so timdily, Wading when another dived. Wondering at goals which others sought, And the prizes for which they strived. Not I to risk a broken neck, Because I had climbed too high. I left it to fool-hardy other to give, Those murky waters a try. Setting my journey on cruise control, Letting others speed on by; Not knowing what could lie ahead, To make them want to fly. Seeing all of the wonders along the way, The rest were too hurried to see. And some of God's greatest handiwork, Was enjoyed by only me. I picked up the refuse that others, Had carelessly cast away. I stopped at each Wayside Chapel, To take the time to pray. Pulling off when the day had ended, And the sun set in the west; I needed this gloriious spectacle, To give my soul a rest. There were so many times when sorrows, Brought down my graying head. I wondered if the trip was worth it, When all but grief had fled. But the light still shines about me, And love refills the space. The clear, still waters of my life, Reflect an unlined face. The chase after fame for another, Has left him with furrowed brow. And the riches he spent his life seeking, Only make his shoulders bow. We each choose our way quite early, Which direction our life will go. Whether we've chosen the better way, Takes almost a lifetime to know. By Joyce 7/01/2000 |

This sounds like a sound lesson on life from one who has lived it..... a survey was taken a few years ago from a number of seniors over 80 years old on the question of if they could change one thing in their life what would it be and most of their replies where that they would have taken more time to reflect on life. Makes me think perhaps I'm in the right forum as I go about reflecting on life and it's encouraging to know that I am not alone.... You have done a wonderful job of it here. Good work, I enjoyed the motor-home aproach to life... take it slow and easy and enjoy all the sights. Bob <>< |
