Those Who Hunger and Thirst Virginia Salter Got a cup of righteousness? How does it taste... Is it sweet like sugar or tart like a lime Is it sometimes bitter or quite distinct as milk? Does it soothe the tongue provide the balm of silk? Do You have some in chocolate that will tantalize my life How about fruity flavors that wash away my strife? You promise me a blessing when I seek, whatever flavor, The righteousness of living in Your will to fully savor A relationship with You standing in Your Name Aligning all my heart to Your loving will proclaim. When I seek my manna and living water’s quench Do I climb and search or just sit upon this bench? Should I rise up from this pew With a longing and a need Accepting what You have to give on whatever You’d have me feed. © June 16, 2001 [This message has been edited by VAS (edited 06-18-2001).] |

Thoughtful poem. I will have to take my pen and paper to church with me. Good place to be inspired. Joyce |

This has great roots--great idea! I also love your use of questions, very attention-getting. Wonderful work. "so when at times the mob is swayed to carry praise or blame too far, we may choose something like a star" --Frost |

And the preacher thought you were just taking notes! It takes more thinking and meditation to write a poetic version of a sermon anyway. I know, I preach, and then latter on take the message and write a poem on it sometimes. I am sure it only helps the message sink deeper, and be more appreciated-- by you & those you share it with.
