Higher Ground I've always lived with hills around, From towering tors to little mound. At least in sight of higher ground. My eyes will often go astray To rest upon them every day And watch the shadows as they play Across the tops and down the sides. A certain peacefulness abides In hilly scenes and often guides My thoughts to passages in Psalms And one that comforts me and calms, Will soon alleviate my qualms, Regarding problems I may face. It makes me stronger in life's race And helps me feel a sense of place. I lift my eyes and in my heart, I feel a certain knowledge start. The hills and I will never part! Dear Betty, What a wonderful poem. I and my Pastor nephew just pulled it up. I told him about this corner. I will be submitting soon after all of this excitement of company. Love, Joyce |

Perhaps someday you will cross over and view the hills from the other side......... It is remarkable the soothing and calm that the hills bring into your life, much like what I imagine Heaven will be like one day....... thank you for sharing a piece of their beauty with us. |
