(I know the tune is familiar, to those of my generation.) Yesterday all our troubles Seemed so far away Then they came crashing into today Suddenly we're not the people We used to be Now there's a shadow hanging overhead Why it had to happen We do not know Was it because we forgot to pray Or became complacent in the pleasures Of yesterday Yesterday, was a carefree game we played Now it's time to not just look the other way It's time to make this a new beginning Of a better day Then someday we won't have to say If only we had ........ yesterday. |

SongBird~ I think that the line that stood out in my mind of that song was ... 'Why she had to go ... I don't know, she wouldn't say. I said, something wrong, now I long ... for yesterday' How sad the memories for those who may have left something unsaid~ Makes my heart cry to think of it~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Songbird, Well now, I do believe that we are on the same wavelength this morning and singing a very similar song ... a new and vibrant song that will bring us and continue in us through many bright tomorrows. God bless and thank you for sharing. -Bob |

Yes, the same generation, the same thoughts...~~sigh~~ I agree, to prevent longing for yesterday, we need to make today count. Thank you Songbird. ~SR |

Lady, may you always know that your wonderful poetry...your gift from God is being noticed by someone who may be lesser in spirit and faith than you. I'm always out here reading, and being touched through your words. This was wonderful..although I can't say I know the tune of course. I am many. |

I,too, know the song and have been wondering if my grandkids will ever know life as knew it before Tuesday. Thank you for reminding us of this fitting tune as well as to make each day count. Blessings, Rae |
