The background of Your easel Is the blue September skies, You brush the dayshine lightly, A feast for hungry eyes; The foreground is a sheltered pond, It's water in quiet repose, The reeds and cattails unmoving, A most peaceful scene You propose; Leaves on trees in their final days, Glow red and burnished gold, Resplendent as they near the end, Of a season not yet old; Doves fly over still waters, With angels, just barely seen, Strokes You have brushed so gently, To bring us a little serene.
