Dear Lord, I love this season best, My little garden is at rest. You've sent your fresh, life-giving rain, Hydrating the parched earth again. I see once more I am too late, Those greedy birds just would not wait. Grapes not yet sweet enough for me, They've eaten in their gluttony. They had to stuff themselves, I know, For the southward way they have to go. Improvident laggard that I am, I'm happy not to make that jam. I've planted, harvested and stored, And leisure now is my reward. I thank You for this time of rest, When I love gardening the best. I think about the perfect one, I'll plant when winter's rest is done, But meanwhile I sit by the fire And dream the garden I desire. Joyce; Dreaming a garden is the way I love to garden as well. My gardening days are mostly limited to flowers. I remember those days of canning, freezing, and making jam. This was such a nice poem. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Wanda |

Ahhh Joyce ~ What a peace this brought, as much as I love my garden, I'm always kind of glad when the birds and squirrels can have what's left of it. This is great. Bonnie |

*sigh* a wonderful prayer filled with God's bounty. I love it and the memories it brought back to me of the wonderful flavours of the harvest. ![]() Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams. |
