Good News A boy came to Good News Club one day, He tugged at my sleeve; and had this to say, “I have heard this is the place to hear Good News.” His clothes were dirty, and he had no shoes; I looked down at him, put my visual aids aside, and said, “Yes, Good News for you, I can provide!” He sadly said, “My Dad died when I was three; Now there’s only my little brother, Mom, and me. Mom is so lonely and sad each day, I thought Good News would help to brighten her way,” I picked up a Wordless Book; my eyes began to tear; Let me share the best Good News you will ever hear. This gold page speaks of heaven; the Bible does say, God wants us to come and live with him one day; It is beautiful with streets of purest gold, In heaven there’s no pain, and you never grow old There’s no more sickness, only happiness and joy; There’s no more sadness for Mommies or little boys.” The child’s eyes sparkled, and grew big and round, I could tell by his face, these words did astound; Then I showed him the dark page, and sadly said, “This page speaks of sin-something to dread; You see sin separates us from the Lord, Sin is something we really can not afford.” This speaks of Christ’s blood; this page of red “Jesus died to pay for your sin,” I said. “He loved you so much, His life He freely gave.” “Why?” He asked, “Your soul He wanted to save. God washes our sins away, when His Son we receive; We’re adopted into His family when we believe Then I turned to the page that is snowy white, looked at him and smiled, “See this page so bright, This is how we look to God when our soul is clean, Our sins have been washed away, it means. Our souls are as white as the freshly fallen snow That means, that one day to Heaven, we shall go.” The page of green with him I shared. We want to grow in Jesus to show we really care We pray, read His Word, and then obey, Try to live for him each and every day; There will be times we might stumble and sin, That is when we must tell on ourselves to Him. Do you want to trust Jesus as your Saviour today?” He raised his head, looked at me, and said, “Okay!” Tell Jesus what you want Him to do for you.” He said, “God, forgive my sins; please do, Make my soul as clean as the fresh new snow; Now help me with the Good News to Mother go.” When he left, I saw a glow upon his face; He hurried out and his feet began to race, Down the street with the Wordless Book in his hand Where a woman and a little boy did stand He showed the book to her, and I started to pray, “Lord, please use this in her life today; Take away her sadness, and bless that precious boy, Fill her life with your unspeakable joy Help her Your Word to understand; May it bring her peace in this troubled land.” I watched them talking, saw her head bow to pray; I rejoiced to have been part of God’s plan that day. This is inspiring Wanda. I wonder how many opportunities we miss each day, to further spread the word of Jesus. Joyce |
