Sometimes I am so serious
Some tell me to "Lighten up!"
Instead of like being like an old Guard Dog--
They'd prefer me a Playful Pup.

And I know at times, they're right
I seem all dogged out and gruff,
Now one should take life seriously--
But not Hound others-and make life tough!

And even if mine's "a Dog's Life"
Some dogs do have fun, after all,
By taking pleasures in life's simple things
Like chasing a car or a ball!

And what of a Dog's Devotion?
How sweet Love's Sincerity!
If the Master's gone 5 minutes or days--
The return's worth a good Slurpy!

To be as a Dog-and not a man
Filled with such distress, anyhow,
Ain't all that bad, as you can see--
Now I see the truth in "Bow-WOW!!!!"

I love the whimsy. It is so true that God has a great sense of humor and speaks to us from the most unexpected places and creatures.
I have a gut feeling that God is a whole lot sillier than we think and He/She would very much like to help us all to lighten up!
