He was called the Beloved, Christ's dearest friend His devoted disciple ~ steadfast till the end Exiled to the isle of Patmos, for proclaiming Christ as King They thought this would stop his testimony But it did not stop a thing. For it was there on the Lord's own day That John heard a loud voice say "I'm the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end You must write what you hear and see today A message to the churches I must send" When John saw, he fell at His feet as if dead Jesus laid His hand on John and said "It's me, my friend, you've nothing to dread." John saw the great throne, all the angels gathered round Ten thousand times ten thousand in number They praised His name in joyful sound With voices that rumbled like thunder "Worthy is He, the Lamb that was slain To receive honor and glory and power." “The one who died and bore our shame All creatures praise His holy name.” The seals were opened and so were John's eyes Things to come can scarce be described For under the altar he heard martyrs cries As kings begged for death, from His face they must hide John saw fire and hail, mingled with blood He saw death and destruction, no sun to shine For those on earth who hated His word Woe to the world and man's decline Thank you, John, for God's revelation May it spur each man to seek salvation For those who love Christ, there's an end to our fears Christ wins the battle and dries all our tears To Hell and death He holds the key Satan's defeat is Christ's victory We'll be clothed in white and with Him we'll reign Spending eternity praising His name Cheryl McClellan, 7/17/01 |

Joyce and Betty Lou, Thank you both for reading. I love trying to present these Bible stories in the first person, using as much direct scripture as I can. I'm glad you enjoyed. Cheryl |

Floria, The Book of Revelation, which use to be so complex to me, is really a beautiful revelation. The last Bible study I did on this opened my eyes to things I had not previously been able to grasp. Thanks for replying. Cheryl |

Mauddib, How kind your words are but I'm certainly no Bible scholar. I just love the Word and enjoy, just like you, trying to relate these stories in poetry form. Many thanks, Cheryl |

what an inspiring gift of poetry! Thank you! A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |
