Where Do I Look?

If I look deep into the mirror,
Is it still a shallow soul?
If I raise my eyes towards heaven,
Wouldn’t that be a better goal?

Can I face life by myself,
When I always seem to stumble?
Shouldn’t I confess my need of God,
And begin to act more humble?

Do I take the time to read,
Of the Words He has provided?
Or do I ignore them on my desk,
Because in others I’ve confided?

Have I offered up some prayers,
And confessed my utter need?
Or do I think that I can rely,
Upon doing special deeds?

If I look into that mirror,
Isn’t it only me that I will see?
Shouldn’t I just lift my head,
And focus on God instead of me?
