The drawer of gloves was a sight There was black, red, yellow and white Some new, some stiff, from small to huge Some without mates, others in twos Leathery thick or warn so thin I saw no use in any of them But to plant a rosebush in the yard I wore the thick black ones, leathery and hard My fingers were spared from the thorns By these stiff old gloves I'd warn Then a single plastic yellow one I wore to get a cleaning job done The white pair, practically worn through, Dusted crevices where a rag wouldn't do The red ones with elasticity, For painting, had worked perfectly. Each served a purpose on command, covering a well intentioned hand. We're each very much like a glove. Jesus within, gives us purpose with love. |

What a terrific poem, you seem to be able to make one think, using the most common things. Gloves, it's great. Thank you for all of your kind comments to me, and for sharing yourself here. Bonnie |

Dear Sandgrain; Great analogy. We are the only hands that Jesus has. The image that we are the glove and He the hand inside, is very profound and yet so simple. Lovely! love, Ellie 02 |

Sandgrain, I say with all sincerity, I admire how you put thoughts and ideas together, like a perfect marriage unting the outward object with the inward truths, simple and yet sublime--like the hand and glove. What obvious wisdom, and ability are manifest in your precious poetic nuggets. Thank you so much, I appreciate you, David "Our Creativity points to a Higher Creator--we couldn't have just happened, and for what ability we may possess--to God be the glory." -dlw- |

Bonnie, ellie,David, clynng, mirjam, rwood, pepper and Wht.Dove, heartfelt thanks to each of you for your encouraging comments. Some of the stories, I've heard or read long ago, so they're not all my origins, but I love setting them to verse and am delighted others find food for thought in them. Guess that's what much of my poetry consists of.... analogies. God bless each of you. |

Sandgrain, I almost missed this one. Wow!! It is a great poem. The most common thing (like a drawer of gloves) and turn it into such a powerful, flowing message. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had this kind of talent!!! keep 'em coming. Marcy |
