I saw a most amazing thing, the likes of which I haven't seen Almighty God in all his glory, laughing uproariously He was looking through the heavens at the happenings down on earth Then I asked him, quite respectfully; "What's so funny?" "My Lord, such mirth!" He said; "You people, you just kill me, if you can forgive the pun." Then I heard him kindly asking Jesus; "Pardon me please, won't you my son?" He told me; "Just look at those people, tell me friend, what do you see?" "Don't they wipe out entire generations, and atone by saving a tree?" "Now that's funny!" "Yeah, I get it, and the arrogance of their pride!" The more they puffed their accomplishments up, the more I had to laugh inside They're going to save the planet some day, and all the creatures that live there Cause it makes them feel religious, and after all, it shows they care Surely they know that we're only renting and soon will be evicted Cause he wants to make a new one that's not gravity restricted Then I saw Gabriel doing stand-up, and was pleasantly surprised He keeps the angels all in stitches, with his wit and laughing eyes I almost lost my composure, with his Clinton impersonation "Domestic tranquility through progressive prevarication" A daunting place it turned out to be, familiar though, somehow to me Like deja vu, coincidence, or some manifest destiny I left there like I went there, just wandered in and just wandered out I can't explain, nor would I try, what it was even all about I only know, and this I swear, there is a good God in heaven Beyond all that, I just don't care, what I don't know now, I will know then I can still hear him laughing though, if I listen with intent A still, small, reassuring voice, that I know is heaven sent [This message has been edited by Jester59701 (edited 05-02-2000).] |

Jester, I found your poem amusing and at the same time comforting in you humorous depictions which show God well in control, and insightful as to the warped priorities and pretentions of man. A good read, thank you, David "Our Creativity points to a Higher Creator--we couldn't have just happened, and for what ability we may possess--to God be the glory." -dlw- |

Jester, This seems to be a light-hearted narrative but the basis of which is some real serious stuff, thank you for this entertaining and thought provoking poem. Dennis :^) |

OH MY GOODNESS! And to think I almost missed this one! I see the same sense of humor in our Lord as you. He has to laugh at us with some of our "seriousness, of which is of little consequence". Yeah, this is a great piece of work. You made me grin from beginning to end. Thanks, Marcy |

we are created in his image and made in his likeness. like man, god posesses many characteristics such as anger, hostility, compassion and love. i never thought of him as having a sense of humor. thank you for bringing this concept to my attention. i enjoyed your poem tremendously, and would like to commend you for the talent displayed in this work. a truly unique depiction. |

I love this lighthearted spiritual humor. Great job Jester! I feel he has the greatest sense of humor, since he is the greatest of all things. Sometimes by laughing at ourselves we learn with strength and confidence to overcome our stupidity. Keep writing! Sincerely, Rwood |

Such a refreshing perspective! I'm sure God has a great sense of humor. So many bible stories indicate that to me. He allows the offenders to begin their great victory celebrations before proving His rightousness. He allows circumstances to appear so hopeless before proving that seed of faith is honored. Great work |

Oh Jester, this is wonderful. What a wonderful message you have said in this poem! God bless you and I hope again that you would reconsider! ``Some have learnt many Tricks of sly Evasion, Instead of Truth they use Equivocation, And eke it out with mental Reservation, Which is to good Men an Abomination.
