Man, I've seen people die by the bottle But damn, They had fun for a while Staggering up the stairs, instigating stares They followed a righteous path only god knows We try to look for meaning hidden among clouds Handing our soworrows down to a certain Beam Is it worth the pain that follows a false dream? Sure it may be but lets remember chivalry Knowing that we inflict never ending pain Emotions surpressed for a moment, Lives erased You try to find the meaning but it will never come Man, I've seen people live like aristotle But Damn, They never ever forced a smile Staggering up their career, hiding behind beer They followed a permanent path only the devil knows . .. ... "You try to find the meaning but it will never come" There is something despairing in this line...but resignation and acceptance too, without any pretense of blaming anyone. Overall, a thought provoking poem. |
