Fall Rain Transitions Last week this street Was a green tent canvas Subdued by a dull gray sky Forests in the nearby park ridges Already turned shifted to the Ochre’s and cedar red leaves Still clinging to virginal modesty Just days ago I drove it again The yellow canopy sparkled Filtering shards of golden sun On asphalt, grass and sidewalks Yesterday west winds brought rain A mist fell this morning Yet big heavy drops Serious and purposeful Came in the afternoon Chasing pieces of the canvas Down to weave an autumn quilt Where I walked with gentle steps Expecting mother’s voice Saying “Take off your shoes” When the dull gray-black of pavement In carpeted in fall’s rich harlequin colors And autumn’s rich scents fill the air I want nothing more than to have you with me To share God’s bounty. There are places inside our souls - that have never been touched. There are places inside our hearts - that need to be loved this much. ~Janet Mar |

Mr. Yeats, this is SO pretty, and I can hear Mom's voice, too... so very pretty... quote: oh wow...did I say this was pretty... I love it! and the Harlequin colors too Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Wilfred there's a very deep spiritual undertone to many of your poems and it commands a lot of respect for the gift of life which you obviously enjoy ...judging by the beautiful way you write about the wonders of nature's beauty....and this is right up there with all the rest of yours... "The yellow canopy sparkled Filtering shards of golden sun On asphalt, grass and sidewalks. carpeted in fall's rich harlequin colors and Autumn's rich scents fill the air," if that's not a poet in love with the romance of life then I'm missing something...ethome |

"Yet big heavy drops Serious and purposeful Came in the afternoon Chasing pieces of the canvas Down to weave an autumn quilt Where I walked with gentle steps Expecting mother’s voice Saying “Take off your shoes”' Bill....I love the thought of a "serious" drop ... there is indeed a painting of God's bounty in your words...and yes, always made more special with a loved one. Thank you for gifting us with your poetry. |

SEA- I wrote this to share with everyone - and certainly you are welcome - Today my brown car greeted me as a polka-dotted masterpiece - yellow maple leaves from tip to toe - and it was only with great reluctance i cleared the winshield to run my errands. Thank you Karilea- I was a little afraid that 'mom's voice' might be too much - Thank you for appreciating it. Satiate - someday I must ask you about that handle - I'm never satiated - Thank you ethome- Darn! - can I hire you on a per diem basis to respond? - Thank you so much for your great appreciation -I only hope I can live up to it. Thank you Paula - I'm not really 'up to' playing in them right now - but the thought will keep me going - Thank you Victoria- Thank you ~S~ - your use of color in your poems - inspires me. Martie- Complimentary words from the queen of this forum - ranks so high with me - I can only say thank you thank you thank you - Your appreciation means more than I can say |

Wilfred~ What a joyful bounty of the heart. 'Yet big heavy drops Serious and purposeful Came in the afternoon Chasing pieces of the canvas Down to weave an autumn quilt Where I walked with gentle steps Expecting mother’s voice Saying “Take off your shoes”' Oh ... Mr Yeats this is an image that I needed to start my day. Only Mother Nature could do a patch work quilt so beautiful. Knowing from your profile where your from, I do want to say be careful of Old Man Winter he will cover up the quilt soon enough. |

Could see it all, my friend, even your car. Beautiful. Unfortunately down here in south texas about all we get are pine needles and oak leaves...and of course pine sap all over everything. See it through your eyes though. jwesley |

Remembering ... remembering, the gentlest of poets who is no longer with us ... but thanking God that the Word-Spirit of him remains in the archives of time ... treasures left for our unearthing when we need them most~ 'I want nothing more than to have you with me To share God’s bounty.' *Huglets* ![]() ~*Marge*~ ~*No matter what I search for ... |
