In a Word It begins with a startling suddenness A small explosion that invokes A short flat baffled moan And finishes with the sound Of a wraith passing close Then vanishing in the distance Let the utterance of it Resonate within your head And your throat And your chest Savor the vibration of it On tongue and teeth Then, put it away And consider things Other than that word Death For you’ll find no answer there ~wranx [This message has been edited by wranx (07-16-2002 09:26 PM).] |

Love your poem....its great! Death comes cold breath on neck like a gentle lover inviting you to accept their tender caress shivers of delight wriggle down your supple spine it's bony hand touching you there you whisper softly welcoming it not realizing the gravity of your words acceptance is permanent no recanting should wisdom kick in do you welcome this cold lover or do you cast him away awaiting his return with bated breath and aching heart Enjoyed your poem alot! Heather, You just garnished my hot dog with some Beluga "d", I never considered the NAW of it all, just a happy accident. I'm not all that hard to catch, not as quick as I used t'once was. I have great faith in Humanity...It's just most of the Humans, I'm not too keen on. E.F.Rose |

from baffled moan to wraith passing close... an excellent poem. "So give life to your dreams, for there lies your survival, and cast your heart beyond those faded scenes, and I'll bring you through the storm |
