The garden one sees driving by, Is not the same that meets the eye, Of she who with a spade and hoe, Is pressed with every plant to try. The work entailed you cannot know, In making this small garden grow. Planted it is with toil and tears, Producing one she's proud to show. Planning so well throughout the years, For bitter cold or sun that sears. Eliminating every weed. Rejoicing as each bud appears. Following the gardener's creed. Planting prayer with every seed. Anticipating every need. Anticipating every need. By: Joyce 7/24/2000 (Challenged to follow Robert Frost's intricate rhyming pattern in "Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy Evening.) |

I could relate so well to your poem Joyce as I am an avid gardener and have written quite a few poems about my own garden in Australia. I am very envious of you as you go into Spring and we go into Autumn, although Autumn here in Melbourne is a lovely time for getting out in my garden! Thank you....Sue Suetang |
