Outside in the near distance mist coats pines with illusion stillness, all around, echoes the silence of a slumbering earth a rumble! motor’s life breaks the morn awake surely now the day’s commenced my solitude the hour intrudes lights switch on, doors click to the waking footsteps-- a stirring to slow rising bit by bit brush by yawn as if a rhyming unto the dawn awakes the sleeper life goes on © September 15, 2001 Virginia Salter Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
