Would September Eleventh Been Different? If you had been the first Adam, or his all important rib, If you had witnessed paradise, and never chose to fib, If you had walked the untrod path and felt the glow of sun Would you have chosen anarchy to render skies undone? Could you have just been strong enough to wrest away the pain That would be handed down to earth in the tears God shed as rain? If the soles of your feet had felt the soft, soft grass, Would all the terror man has made ever come to pass? Would you still have stolen ‘way, the fruit of knowing such As would fall upon that day, in the horrors of the clutch With Satan’s very hand agrip on souls around the earth, Would you still have eaten and given Hell its birth? If only, if only, there’d been a stronger pair walking in the Garden when God had love to share. If only in Eden, they’d made a better choice if only they’d not heeded the enchanting Serpent’s voice. But then again, how steadfast does humanity withstand the tantalizing of temptation’s tongue that prowls about the land? Might it have been different enough to hold the steel erect that bent to granite crumbles the day our lives were checked? If you, or someone else, had been the ones walking there Would have been strong enough to show the world you care? Yea, Adam and his rib were made perfectly, for sure, having you or me, instead, would not have brought the cure. For making choices was our call to God and His will At least He sent His only Son, as atonement to fulfill. ©January 10, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Wow this was great, and these lines "With Satan’s very hand agrip on souls around the earth, Would you still have eaten and given Hell its birth?" makes you think. floria |

If we never know evil, how can we know good? I really enjoyed your poem, it made me think! and that's a good thing. |

Yes, very thought-provoking. My fav lines were "But then again, how steadfast does humanity withstand the tantalizing of temptation’s tongue that prowls about the land?" RP |

This is one great poem. This make me think that everything I do will lead up to some type of consequence. Randy Meador a life lived unexplored is a life not worth living. |

Sometimes I have to wait to read your work until the later part of night, to reflect and ponder what you have so carefully pored over for us...thank you Virginia...you've been missed... |
