There are times I try to find
your smile remembered in my mind.
A fleeting vision then it's gone
as the clouds erase the sun.
Another love gone to waste
leaving just a bitter taste.

I watch it slowly go to seed
furrowed brow to grow my needs
as the flocks of scorn descend
to simply my mind rend
until I no longer see
anything you ever meant to me.

Another bumper crop of shame,
another loss in Love's rigged game
and the only thing I hate
is the amount left on my plate.
Another love gone to waste
leaving just a bitter taste.

Hi Alicat

It's good to see you posting...I'm always glad to see poetic haven come alive for a minute or two. Sad how love slips into something that you don't even recognize as the same. Yet, I still believe that love is forever.
