That Voice

On the lone prairie,
Where words wind whip away
And no one speaks to break silence,
In the midst of trees,
That shadow the walker’s way
And a million posts look for a fence.
Bury me not
Let my fallen body be
Silent speech with something to say
Forever in the past tense.
