One last poem I write tonight One more silly verse Pent up emotion spills from my pen It could be worse It could be worse I could write of moon and June And smarmy days of honeymoon With treacle days and honeyed nights Before those popular Saturday fights It could be worse I could write of love and hope Is there such a thing for me Years pass by and still I’m alone With just this line of poetry It could be worse I could be dried by muse in bliss Shriveled by her satirical kiss Left alone, words just out of touch Not able to write as I want to so much It could be worse I could be at work, humble clerk in cube Computer screen of Microsoft cast Wondering if the pay is worth it all Wondering how long I will last It could be worse I could be ready to fall asleep Slumber dictates this silly verse Typing words, nonsensical Oh yes, it could be worse |
