The Night's Gentle Breeze

Quietly I forge my thoughts
in the cool evening air.
The silence here in this place,
paints a somber hue in my mind.
Old feelings float in on the rustling leaves,
changing my patterns of thought.
My eyes close and a faint smile comes,
as I tip my head to the sounds.
My forgotten pen falls to the paper
and I drift away to the past.

No crafty prose will be written tonight,
no insightful haiku.
Only a simple little poem
about memories of lost love
that ride the currents of
the night's gentle breeze.
